Characteristics of video surveillance storage requirements
Leave a message
Video surveillance has several characteristics for storage requirements:
1. The demand for storage capacity of video surveillance is relatively flexible. The storage capacity will increase exponentially with the improvement of picture quality, picture size, and video line.
2. Video surveillance does not have high performance requirements for storage, but it needs to be able to meet long-term video surveillance continuous data read and write, with large data traffic but low number of access requests.
3. The data storage period is short, and the data of general monitoring sites can be deleted after a certain period of time (such as 1 month). According to the requirements of the video surveillance system for the storage system, different video surveillance storage solutions can be formulated for different needs and characteristics. Distributed independent video storage The characteristics of such video surveillance requirements are that the amount of video surveillance data is small, the data collection points are scattered, the investment in video surveillance equipment is limited, the data storage period is short, and the data security requirements are not high.
The DAS connection method is used to directly connect an external storage device to each video surveillance server or industrial computer for storage expansion. The one-time purchase cost of this method is low, and the small-scale maintenance cost is also controllable, but it is not easy to expand, and the maintenance cost will increase rapidly with the expansion of the video surveillance scale. Suitable for such storage solutions are community video surveillance systems, campus video surveillance systems, small and medium-sized enterprise video surveillance systems, and remote area video surveillance systems.
Centralized network video storage The characteristics of such video surveillance requirements are large data volume, extensive and relatively concentrated video lines, high video surveillance density, long data storage period, and high data security requirements for video surveillance. The SAN connection method is adopted to allow each video surveillance server or industrial computer to be directly connected to the SAN storage network, and a centralized storage device is used. In this way, the one-time purchase cost is high, it is easy to expand, and the long-term maintenance cost is low. Suitable for such storage solutions are video surveillance systems for security departments, urban road command centers, and highway video surveillance centers.
